IBC 2018: How it was
- 03.10.2018
Many participants and visitors of the international exhibition IBC 2018 agree that this year the exhibitors focused on already implemented solutions rather than on experimental prototypes and new ideas.
There were no breakthroughs, but there were more software and cloud solutions presented. In addition, the number of examples of practical application of artificial intelligence has increased, as well as all the guests of Amsterdam were pleased with the new metro line, which made it easier to get to the exhibition.
The development of such areas as visualization and full-featured web interfaces for broadcast automation systems is still actively present in broadcasting. “I got the impression that everyone already has visualization and web services. Differences are only in the set of features and chips. Moreover, for some manufacturers, the web interface practically does not differ in functionality and appearance from a regular application. We can definitely say that the future belongs to the web and cloud solutions, ”said the head of the technical support and sales department Peter Molchanov.
As in the past year, Telos Alliance and Lawo showed their development in the field of virtualization. Also, they added a budget solution LUMO for laptops, tablets and “clouds” from a young company On-Hertz, founded only in May of this year.
“In connection with the development of technologies, processor power in particular, the trend of radio virtualization is gaining momentum. It is attractive for everyone: both for small studios and for large projects. I am glad that we were able to pick up this trend in time, and we are already working on a new line of equipment. For example, in the Synergy Mini mixing console, a number of functions are placed on the touchscreen display: control of broadcast modes, level adjustment, etc. ”said Mikhail Efimov, lead engineer of the system integration department of Tract Company.
The tradition to meet with colleagues and make presentations at the booth of Russian manufacturers did not break this year. In the centre of the stand, a television and radio complex was deployed on the basis of Russian developments, where we presented a unique Synergy Mini mixing console and an application for the decoration of live SJM (Smart Jingle Machine).
“The pleasant result of the exhibition was the interest of the participants in our Synergy Mini mixing console. It was especially appreciated by representatives of European educational institutions, saying that it was exactly what they needed. It has everything you need on board for organizing a small training radio complex,” said the head of the technical support and sales department Peter Molchanov.
